Every interaction you have during your stay at Nicholson House is completely on your terms. No in-person process to get into your room, no unnecessary paperwork, and no need to “check-out.” We have you covered from the time you book, to your payment confirmation, and a farewell salutation after your departure.
Room Access
Enter your room easily and securely with the punch of a few buttons. No keys to keep track of and no downloads necessary. On the day of arrival, your room access code is enabled and your room is ready and waiting for you at check-in time. You check-in simply by using your door code the first time – it’s that easy! We have you covered on security, too. Your room key code will be uniquely generated for your stay in your room only, and you can lock the door by pressing any key, though we also have auto-lock timers installed on all doors, just in case.

Sure, no front desk sounds fine, until you need something, right?! The VIP Guest Portal has you covered. Your Nicholson House check-in email links you directly to our guest portal — again, no downloads needed! The web-based guest portal connects you with real time texting capability for all your in-room needs and more. Here, you can also find detailed information about the property and activities in the area, from outdoor adventures to our top dining picks. Don’t forget, you also have the Waiting Room just next door if you are more of an in-person meet ‘n greet traveler.

The mission of MendoParks is to support Mendocino Coast’s State Parks by contributing financial and volunteer support to various projects and educational programs. Precious Water
The Nicholson House garden was completely redesigned with drought tolerant planting throughout the landscape. We only hand water and use drip irrigation, no sprinkler systems. The small baths in the main house were converted to include lush, tiled showers, complete with heated floors, and low flush toilets. We also invite guests to be mindful of towel usage in an effort to conserve unnecessary laundry loads.
Zero Plastic Waste
Real glassware in guest rooms is not just chic, it’s earth-minded! Nicholson House guest rooms are free of one-use plastic and mini toiletries. We consciously choose to offer only reusable containers and minimal bath product amenities in an effort to reduce waste. Reuse — the first of the three Rs! Over 70% of our decor is vintage, including one-of-a-kind antique pieces, restored relics, and authentic French impressionist art from the 1800s.

Providing the Nicholson House experience for our guests means sourcing goods and services that we can feel proud of, not only as luxury products, but also with regard to how they impact the environment. We choose local and American-made vendors with sustainable materials that protect the earth and our collective resources, from sustainable all-California-made Premasleep luxury mattresses, to local earth-friendly teas and bath amenities, premium bamboo toilet paper, and more. At Nicholson House we put the earth first, just like our guests.
