Where to Grab a Drink Around Mendocino

There’s no shortage of good libations in the Mendocino Village, just north in Fort Bragg, and even on your way to and from the Coast through the Anderson Valley.

Once you arrive at Nicholson House, you can pretty much wander about and skip the car, so there’s no cap on boozy fun in The Village. If you’re more of a beer buff, try a Fort Bragg brewery, too! First and foremost, though, we recommend a stop at one of the incredible wineries along 128 on your way out to the Coast. If the drive out doesn’t allow for a stop, save it for some fun on the journey home, or go whole hog and book a wine tour for a full day of fun and incredible flavors with amazing Mendocino Wine Tours. Here are our top picks:

Mendocino Village:

  • Fog Bottle Shop – Exciting natural wines, both local and international, with the cutest cheese plates, decor, and general energy.
  • The Waiting Room – Tap micro-brews, Beaujolais’ extensive wine offerings, coffee for any time of day, and special bar bites (plus Cafe Beaujolais’ full dinner menu, IYKYK).
  • Meyer Family Cellars – In-Village outpost of an Anderson Valley staple winery. A classic local tasting experience.
  • Patterson’s Pub – As close to Irish as it gets. The real pub experience for adults only with full plates and all the spirits.
  • Dick’s Place – A real town has a real dive bar, and that is Dick’s. Not to be missed for at least one drink with a side of great people watching.

Fort Bragg:

  • NOYO Harbor Restaurant – Great for Happy Hour overlooking the NOYO harbor with views of the river and frolicking sea lions.
  • Tall Guy Brewery – The newest, tastiest brewery in town. Family-friendly with games, live music, and more.
  • North Coast Brewery – The longest-standing classic brewery on the coast with pub fare and a music venue.
  • Overtime Brewery – A small brewery that’s almost a local’s secret. Home-style menu and a great pub quiz.

Anderson Valley Wineries:

  • Pennyroyal Farms – Family-friendly with house-made goat’s cheese and a farm tour to meet the lady goats themselves.
  • Disco Ranch – A sweet stop in the heart of Boonville with home-made deli snacking and highly-curated, international wine offerings.
  • Toulouse – Delicious wines with a personal touch and treehouse views over the Valley and Redwoods.
  • Roederer – The best in bubbles. Famous and classy.
  • Goldeneye – A big label that lives up to the hype. Excellent Pinots and some of the most exquisite garden views.
  • Handley – Generational family ownership with a charming tasting patio and some of the best white wines in the Valley.
  • Lula – The last tasting room before the Coast and the most fun, they say. Stop for great Pinots and personality.
